Horsham District Wellbeing

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

Horsham District Council are offering free work place health checks for all the businesses on the estate. The only commitment they require from you is 30 minutes of your time and help with organising their visit. On fixed, mutually agreed dates they can see up to 12 people in a session so they will be approaching various employers on the estate to see if they can join forces to share a visit and make the most of the available slots. For those over 40 who satisfy the eligibility criteria the following free NHS health check will be carried out:

  • Cholesterol Test
  • Blood Pressure
  • Pulse Check
  • BMI and Weight
  • Dementia Awareness
  • 10 year Cardiovascular risk
  • A booklet containing your personal results
  • A general healthcare discussion

They also run a Well-being MOT for those under 40 and for anyone that doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria for the NHS check. This includes:

  • Weight and Body Mass Index check
  • Body Fat Percentage and Visceral Fat check (Fat around the major organs)
  • Bone Mass and Muscle Mass
  • Hydration
  • Metabolic Age
  • A full print out of your results and measurements
  • Discussion with a well being advisor on your results and general well being.
  • Free courses to help you move forward and get positive results.

There is support to make lifestyle changes that will benefit the individuals concerned and the businesses they work for. There is also lots of information and advice on general health queries and things like giving up smoking. We support this initiative on our Industrial Estate as the early warning checks can pick up issues that would otherwise go un-diagnosed and make a substantial difference to quality of life, absenteeism and even life expectancy. If you are interested in finding out more either as an employer or a participant, then please get in touch with Andrew Holbrook on (01403) 215111 or Andrew.Holbrook@horsham.gov.uk or look out for Andrew and Beverley on their rounds to get a plan in place for the estate.
