The Small Dole Summer Show 2013

By David Barrett

The 2012 Summer Show was very well supported and we were blessed with wonderful weather – it was actually too hot, a fact which was reflected in our takings for the tea tent, but the ice cream seller did a roaring trade! The cost of running the show was £1820.81 and our income was £1591.14 showing an operational loss of £229.67.
Fundraising during the year helps to cover losses but your continued support is vital in our efforts to continue this traditional village event, now in its 69th year. It would be a great achievement if we made a small profit for a change!
We would ask that you ensure the success of this years show by:
1. ENTERING THE SHOW. This is a family show and we welcome entries from ALL – both experienced or novice. PLEASE HAVE A GO.
2. BUY SPONSORSHIP OF A CLASS – details of which are to follow

A special thank you is due to a small band of organisers and helpers, whose hard work and enthusiasm ensures the continuation of our village show. However, we are all getting older and would appreciate more help, particularly on show day. If you are able to help in any way, please contact the treasurer: David Barrett on 01273 493888, or by e-mail on

Dates for your diary:
Tuesday 13th August – Registration of entries at Village Hall
Saturday 17th August – Summer show starting at 1.30pm

Our sincere thanks to JT Mackley and Co Ltd for continuing to allow us to use their sports field for the show and for their generosity on providing a site for our container.
